Great New Song from Ralph Tomaselli

If I Could Fly Away is very well written and produced. The composition is beautiful and the vocal melody fits very well within the progression. The vocals are very mellow, serve the music well and are mutually complimentary. Ralph has an excellent ear for chord and melody and this song does much to express that ability. This is an EXCELLENT SONG Ralph. Keep up the great work, I'll be listening for more. Noah Ohne

Oh, so nice, amazing!!!

"Easy listening" :) Didn't know there such a genre, but your song describes it. I think it's amazing! One of the best I've reviewed! There's one or two places in the song where I'm melting with pleasure! There are two things though. The first is that I think the vocal is a little bit more quiet than it has to be (I know it is supposed to be like that) but it's TOO quiet in my opinion. The other thing is that the song reminds of something but I've heard it twice and since i don't know of what it doesn't matter and it happens all the time, to me too. Where can I buy or download it? I'd give you 6.00 rate, but... Keep rockin' and good luck! Cheers, Donnie Donkov

Ralph Tomaselli brings us Beautifully Fragile... a mouthful to be sure as music is the most delicate premise. An ethereal celebration of the mind communicated to all that hear. The one aspect I find different than most in me experience in reviewing this artist is the brevity of this piece. At less than three minutes this piece gently takes you through a journey that leaves you realizing there is little use in looking back to where you have recently been because where you are right now is only the beginning for where you will end up. The most important aspect is what do you do once you get there. That is what makes music the most delicate premise... and that is why this piece is aptly named beautifully fragile.

 Love for lovin' life

Music can take us to places outside of ourselves. The song lovin' life by Ralph Tomaselli does just that. Whether it be to a beach on a coast where the waves break at our feet or to a sidewalk cafe along the shore having our favorite cool drink. This song conjures visions of a lazy careless time with a special someone or friends. Beautiful piece of music with a relaxed vibe. Scott ... WFJ.

Cool Song

Good job Ralph! i really enjoyed listening to this track - uplifting, positive feeling to the lyrics and I like the effect on certain parts of the vocals. There were some parts of the song where the lyrics were a little repetitive, but this does not take away anything from the song. Very cool bridge with psychedelic overtones, your voice is similar to Peter Murphy of Love & Rockets and the song has that Love & Rockets feel to it. I wouldn't say that unless I really meant it, because I love Love & Rockets. With so much negativity in lyrics these days, it's nice to hear something positive in the words of a song. Keep doing what you're doing Ralph, I look forward to hearing more good tunes from you!

Band Geek

I was astonished by this "multipurpose" piece of work by Ralph Tomaselli called Band Geek... Rarely can somebody impress me this deep and achieve a result this good when it comes to produce rocky focused "cowboy" thrill using electronics solely. I always admire guys who can revive spirits of traditional melodica via the synthesized music tools. You know what you need to make it sound the way it sounds regarding this particular work of music? Talent! You need the amount of talent to come to terms with conceptual tasks, of which Ralph is no doubt an uncomparable Master. The Master, who like very few personas around is capable of trying to enrich us, the humans eager for something humane in music, with a precious master-piece... And there is a very simple way of determining whether it is a master-piece or not: simply try to compare your sentiments prior to listening to Band Geek and right after. Can you feel it? Me, I definitely do.

I like the cool groove. The music is interesting, the time signature turnaround is cool, and the vocal almost eerie..in a good way. The laughter is a bit strange but a powerful statement. Musicians lay their creativity on the line, vulnerable and risking being ridiculed... A valid angst for all of us. But reminiscent of the Crosby Stills and Nash song that proudly proclaimed, "....I'll let my Freak Flag fly... " I like that the song finishes with "I don't mind, I don't mind" ... very creative!

I like the hook in the song a lot. It is a laid back really nice guitar riff. The vocals sound quirky and really fit the track nicely. The only bit I am not sure about is the break with the rap part. Maybe if the rap was a little quicker it would work a lot better. It just sounds a little too laid back but that is the only part that anyone could question. It is a really well put together track. Obviously some time has been put into this song and it works really well. I really like the vocals with the riff of the song. I would like to hear more songs from Ralph. I like the idea's. It'll do you good

This has a really strange and interesting opening and the instrumentation and arrangement is at the least, creative. I like the chord changes and the weirdness that this song has about it. I love the guitar in the background, and the drum beat is also cool. When I first started listening to this song, I thought I was going to hate it, as it started kind of rough and it took me a while to get into the flow of it. I would suggest the the composer thin out some of the backgrounds, or in other words, try to make the background guitar stuff in the first section a little more less busy. The second part of the song allows the vocal to come out better, and I live the chord changes. I would old clear out some of the distractions that I feel are coming in during the beginning of the song. If someone has to wait a minute into the song to "get it" then it's my opinion that it should be cleaned up to keep the listener's attention on the song. I found that if I didn't have a really clear intro to a song that I would write, that people didn't take the time to listen. With all that being said, I think this is a really COOL song, and I would love to hear a remix of it, with my suggestions addressed. This is NOT a criticism, but more something I would like the composer to think about when making recordings of his/her songs. To finish on a high note, I think that if this song was mixed a little stronger and if the front end was a little more appealing to the average person's ear, that this would be a monster of a cool tune. I like it a lot.

Decidedly different style The acoustic feel of this song is decidedly different from what one might normally expect from a rock artist. I'll Do It Good ventures into a territory that combines rock, jazz, and a bit of blues into something interestingly different and aurally stimulating. The arrangement of the instrumentation is very well done and the performances are flawless. I particularly like the sound of the acoustic guitars and the usage of the percussion instruments. Tight vocals and excellent lyrics and a top this track off with a story that is very much worth a listen. It'll Do It Good is an excellent addition to Ralph's musical repertoire and sure to attract attention to his musical stylings. Great job Ralph.

The vocal distort and fx during the song are a nice touch. The recording is clean and each riff stands out, the melody the lead guitar plays in the background between the acoustic has a groovy charm to it (the switch kill effect). This actually reminds me of something Beck would have created and that's a good thing. The harmonics at the end of the song add a nice dynamic to the end fade out. All in all, a nice song, not overdone and well rounded. Each instrument is clear and there are many of them! Open road California cruisin tune at its best.

Nice mood from the start. Nice bass line. This song sets a mood straight from the beginning, which is a very nice thing to hear in music today. A lot of music nowadays seems like pieces just put together,( not to say that I don't like and appreciate music written from different ideas), but this is well thought out and right to the point. I personally appreciate that. Solid playing and musicianship in this tune. Mr. Tomaselli, it seems to be that you have knocked this pout of the park. Well done.

Lovely Instrumental

This instrumental features a variety of very lovely sounds. As a counterpoint, the percussion provides the subtle rhythms needed, to gently sway and rock you to sounds that remind me of Asian influences. There are two sections to this piece; the main theme that's followed by a highly syncopated bridge, then back to the main theme. I was anticipating a motif or melody, but other than an implied melody by the keyboards, there wasn't one. This in no way lessens the pleasure of listening to Mr. Tomaselli's comosition. Simple yet elegant, this work of his brings to mind mystery or being just reflective. Nice job. You'll love it. I did.

Very Good Song

The Possibilities is a very good song. The percussion fits the music really well and gives the song definition and feel. The verse builds and gives excellent tension to the setup of chorus. The ethereal back up vocals also add depth and a great flavor to the mix and are well placed almost sounding synthetic. The vocal seemed like it needed a little more compression to maintain a solid level with the cool phase effect. Overall enjoyed the song and listened a few times. Scott - WFJ

A true throwback to 90's alternative, the band combines laid-back acoustic strumming, some electric guitar fills, and what sounds like a synthesizer at points. The complex, layered instruments coming in and out, along with the singer's style, remind me of the bands Incubus, Bush, Everlast, and Orgy. The vocals compliment the instruments well and change at several points in the song, going from melodic to whispered to spoken-word style about halfway through. The bongo drums are perfect for this style and keep the music moving forward without drowning out the rest. A real easy listen, it truly sounds like something I'd hear on the radio back in the day. I like what they've done to bring Alternative back. There are a few nitpicks I might mention. The lyrics are a little hard to understand at parts. Get drowned out by the instruments Somewhat over repetitive use of the song's namesake as a motif. Chord progression remains the same through most of the song, becomes slightly monotonous after a while. The breakdown in the middle of the song is well-placed and brings in a new verse with the vocals coming out strong, then goes back to the main riff. A few change-ups inserted here and there would keep the listener pleasantly surprised. Overall, this is a very talented artist, and this song is nearly radio-ready.

It'll Do You Good ventures into a territory that combines rock, jazz, and a bit of blues into something interestingly different and aurally stimulating. The arrangement of the instrumentation is very well done and the performances are flawless. I particularly like the sound of the acoustic guitars and the usage of the percussion instruments.
